CAPITAL CAMPAIGN EXCEEDS FUNDRAISING GOAL!
June 30th marked the successful end to our Texas Delt Capital Campaign. We surpassed our goal of $9.5 million, raising over $9.72 million from 643 donors. A truly outstanding effort. Our thanks to all Texas Delts, their families, and friends who contributed to the campaign. According to our fundraising partners at Pennington & Company, of the over 400 capital campaigns they’ve been involved with, our capital campaign was not only successful, it was the 4th largest in total dollars raised and 12th in the total number of donors.
Donations can still be made: While the official campaign is over, we will continue to accept donations. They can be made through this link here.
The Delt Donor Wall: All gifts, no matter the size, are greatly appreciated. However, please note – A Delt Donor Wall will be mounted in the new/updated Delt house. Your name on that wall can be secured with a minimum gift or pledge of $5,000.
Building Committee: Scott Benkendorfer is leading this committee. Others on the team include Wes Ritchie, Steve Stodghill, Kyndel Bennett, Jamil Alam, Bill McMeans, Ellis Winstanley, Steve Rigby, and Jason Nix. Scott can be reached at: sbenk@captiveaudio.com
We’ll seek to provide updates as we move forward.
Thank you to all who have supported the Texas Delts, we are grateful!
THE HOW AND WHY OF ALUMNI SUPPORT
Let’s not mince words: we know Gamma Iota has consistently asked you for money over the last several years. And boy, have you delivered! Nearly 650 Delt alumni have pledged well over $9.8 million to fund our Shelter construction and renovation projects. It’s been a true joy to see construction finally begin this summer, thanks to everyone’s hard work and generosity. (Be sure to read the brief construction update below!)
Gamma Iota also accepts donations to the Alumni Association. Some of you might wonder why these different funds exist and what they do, and today we’d like to clear that up. Your hard-earned dollars are valuable, after all, and it’s important to know precisely how Delta Tau Delta will benefit from your generosity.
Let’s start with the Alumni Association. As the name suggests, this group’s goal is to keep us Delts connected after graduation. Donations help the association pay for the various events we host, such as the Alumni Reunion coming up on November 11-12 in Austin (including Friday afternoon golf and the TCU game on Saturday)! They also keep our website up and running (texasdeltalumni.com) and fund publications like this newsletter. In that sense, it’s not too different from a subscription to your local newspaper!
As you probably know, the Texas Delts: Continuing the Tradition capital campaign has surpassed its goal of $9.5 million. So why are we still accepting donations beyond that point? The short answer is that, with major fundraising campaigns like this, costs and plans can change based on the world around us. It’s no secret that the pandemic threw a wrench in countless plans across the globe, and the supply chain issues in the last year have led to cost increases we could not have foreseen when the campaign began.
Given all that, every further dollar we raise on the campaign fund helps us reduce our debt and keep Delt membership affordable for current and future brothers. We want them to live in the new Shelter, after all—not just admire from afar! You can make or update a gift at tinyurl.com/ texasdeltcapital.
No matter how you choose to support Gamma Iota, your dollars make a difference. Thank you for being part of our Delt success story!
Fraternally,
Scott Benkendorfer ’90
President, Gamma Iota Building Association Board
Building Committee Leader
