We are happy to announce that the capital campaign for Gamma Iota has made excellent progress over the last several months, and we have raised a significant mount toward our goal of $9.5 million and made strides toward the future of the Shelter. We are forever grateful to every one of you who has made a pledge to help us get this far, and to those who have volunteered countless hours to ensure this campaign’s success. The fall newsletter listed those who took an active role on the campaign board and in this issue, we would like to focus on the class leaders (page 3), who have engaged in a grassroots effort to encourage broad-based support from their pledge brothers, as well as the building committee, who has laid the foundation for what will be the most transformative event ever for 2801 San Jacinto.
Many fraternities at the University of Texas have already constructed new homes or are currently renovating their facilities. With your help, we know that we can rise to the challenge and create the finest fraternity house UT has to offer. Over the past six months, the building committee (see box) has been interviewing potential architects to determine the future of our Shelter. We are pleased and excited to announce that we have entered into a contract with Hsu Architects and will have updated renderings this summer. You can view examples of their work at www.hsuoffice.com. In addition to selecting the architect, we are working with the city of Austin to determine next steps that can occur before demolition of the adjacent property the House Corporation purchased in September.
